How this mood tracker works

Each day you pick a mood from 1 (very low) to 5 (great), rate your energy and stress, and tick tags such as sleep, exercise, time outdoors or work stress. The calendar colors every logged day so you can see good and hard stretches at a glance.

After 7 logged days, the tracker compares your average mood on days with each tag against days without it, and flags differences of 0.4 points or more. These are simple comparisons, not proof of cause, but they can point you toward habits worth keeping or changing. This week vs last compares your average mood over the last 7 days with the 7 days before, once each has at least 3 entries.

Tips for tracking your mood

  • Log at the same time each day. Evening works well for most people because the whole day is in view.
  • Keep it quick. A mood and two tags is enough. Consistency matters more than detail.
  • Use the note for anything unusual, such as a poor night, a hard conversation or good news.
  • Review weekly, not hourly. One bad day says little. Patterns over a few weeks are more useful.
  • Bring the export or printout to appointments if you want to talk through your mood with a doctor or therapist.

Frequently asked questions

How does this daily mood tracker work?

Pick the face that matches your mood, rate your energy and stress from 1 to 5, and tick any tags that applied to your day. The calendar colors each day by mood, and after 7 days the tracker compares your average mood on days with and without each tag.

Why track your mood every day?

A short daily log makes patterns easier to spot than memory alone, such as how sleep, exercise or stress line up with your harder days. It also gives you something concrete to share with a doctor or therapist.

When should I talk to a professional about my mood?

The National Institute of Mental Health suggests seeking professional help if severe or distressing symptoms last 2 weeks or more, such as trouble sleeping, changes in appetite, losing interest in things you usually enjoy or difficulty getting through usual tasks. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 in the US.

Does a mood tracker diagnose depression or anxiety?

No. It is a personal log, not a screening test or diagnosis. Only a qualified health care provider can assess your mental health.

Is my mood data private?

Yes. Entries are saved only in your own browser and are never sent to Nurtavia or anyone else. Use Export CSV to keep a copy, because clearing your browser data or switching devices will not bring them back.
